Based on this, develop and describe (in detail) an idea for a screencast or set of screencasts that either you would develop for your students or that your students would create for each other (or the general public or some other audience).
I have used Screencasting before. I used it to record demos for software used in my classes and posted them up on the share drive so students can access them.
I would really like my students to also use this technology. I could have my students create Screencast videos to show understanding of how to use the programs.
For computer applications I could assign students or groups to demo different programs. These screencasts could then be used as an aid while doing projects and a study guide for the tests/final exam. I could also have students find new web 2.0 technology and record what its used for and how to do some basics.
Describe how this would fit into a larger lesson and why it would be an essential part of the lesson (and not just window-dressing).
This will fit into the evaluation piece to my lesson and help check for understanding.
I liked the screencasting. It is said that students listen better to than peers so the demo and study guide would be from one student to anotehr.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of having them work in groups to create a screencast. I think the group accountability would like lead to a better end result. Do you think students would feel like the activity deviated from course material?
